“One of my earliest childhood memories is of my mother lighting a candle on Christmas Eve and placing it on the windowsill of our front living room.”

Lighting the cotton wick, she would always explain to me in great detail, that this was an ancient Irish tradition handed down from generation to generation. She would carefully decorate the candle with a simple home made holly wreath, wrapping it around the base.  My Mother believed that the candle was a symbol of peace, a beacon to guide every weary traveler home and a gentle reminder to us all of absent loved ones and friends. The lighting candle, though only just one solitary flickering flame, delivered a comforting primal peace and warmth to all who viewed it. As for me,  through my young innocent eyes, it was a reminder of everything wonderful and joyous about Christmas.

Now, almost fifty years later, we are proud and delighted to bring you our very own handmade Christmas candle appropriately called “Nollaig Shona” …We invite you to light this candle on Christmas eve and keep alive an ancient Irish tradition as old as time itself.

Let its natural scented aroma sooth the senses over the festive period as we give thanks for all the blessings in our lives and let its flickering light act as a gentle reminder of loved ones who will be absent from around our table on Christmas day.
